As the Supreme Court takes up the fate of nearly 200,000 California DACA students in our Nation鈥檚 Capitol, we write to reaffirm our solidarity with our student dreamers. 91风月楼 is a Sanctuary College in a Sanctuary City, in a Sanctuary State and as such we have created our VIDA resource center to support undocumented students, which you can learn more about.
We're also proud to be ahead of the curve, and in compliance with AB 1645, by offering our students access to City DREAM. City DREAM Center is City College鈥檚 new resource center for undocumented students with a both a dedicated Program Coordinator and Financial Aid Specialist. The College's AB540 Task Force has made these services possible while funding scholarships for immigrant students. And, on November 7, the California Community Colleges Chancellor鈥檚 Office (CCCCO) and the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) and the Foundation for California Community Colleges selected City College to serve as a host site for regional immigration legal services for immigrant students, faculty and staff of California Community Colleges. 91风月楼鈥檚 ability to provide these services to our students allows us to address a critical need for one of our most vulnerable populations. We know that the free legal services will help many of our students overcome their greatest barrier to fully accessing the American Dream.
Finally, as a reminder, the Board of Trustees adopted a resolution in September 2017 declaring that District employees will not assist in federal immigration enforcement activities. For information advising employees on the appropriate steps to take if a federal immigration official comes to your office or classroom, visit the District鈥檚 DACA website.
We hope and pray that justice will be done and the Trump Administration鈥檚 needless attacks on DACA students will finally be repudiated.
In Solidarity,
Mark
Dr. Mark Rocha, Chancellor
